Applications
Lithium tri-(tert-Butoxy)aluminum hydride is a mild and highly selective reducing agent that can reduce ketones, aldehydes, and acyl chlorides in ether or diethylene glycol dimethyl ether at 0 ℃. It does not reduce fatty acid esters and nitriles, but can reduce phenyl esters of fatty acids and cyclic acids, and reduce tetrahydrofuran (ring opening). Used as a reducing agent in pharmaceuticals, fragrances, pesticides, dyes, and other fine organic synthesis. Widely used for the reduction of steroid ketones.
